Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PandaPicks.
Getting Started
PandaPicks is a community-powered deals platform. Members share the best discounts they
find online, and the community votes to surface the hottest deals. Think of it as a deals
feed driven entirely by people like you.
You can browse all deals without signing in. To vote on deals, post deals, leave comments,
or set up deal alerts, you'll need a free account.
Click the Post button in the top navigation. Paste the product URL and
we'll automatically pull the title, price, and images. Review the details, adjust anything
that's wrong, and hit Publish.
Deals & Voting
Trending uses a time-decay algorithm similar to Hacker News: a deal's score is calculated
as
votes / (age_hours + 2)^1.6. This means a deal with 10 votes posted an hour ago beats one with 50 votes posted a
week ago. Scores refresh every 5 minutes.Yes. Click the same arrow again to remove your vote, or click the other arrow to flip it.
Vote counts shown in the feed update every 5 minutes due to caching.
Click the Expired? button on any deal card. Once enough community members report
the same deal, an expired banner is shown automatically. The deal's owner can dismiss the flag
if the deal is still active.
Current categories are Tech, Home, Gaming, Fitness, and Fashion. You can
browse by category using the navigation menu. When posting a deal, choose the closest
matching category from the dropdown.
Deal Alerts
Deal Alerts let you get an email whenever a deal matching your keyword hits a threshold
you set. For example: email me when a deal containing "PlayStation" gets 10 upvotes.
Minimum votes: triggers when a matching deal reaches a specific upvote
count you choose. Trending: triggers when a matching deal enters the trending
feed (score ≥ 1.0). Both check every 5 minutes.
Go to Alerts in your account menu. From there you can create, edit, and delete
alerts. Each alert fires at most once per deal, so you won't get duplicate emails.
Account & Privacy
Go to Profile from the account menu. Enter a username between 2 and 40 characters
and save. Your username is shown next to comments you post.
Yes. On the Profile page, click the avatar area to choose an image file (max 2 MB). It'll
be shown in the navbar and next to your comments.
Click Posts in the navigation or account menu. Only you can see this list —
it shows all deals you've submitted along with their vote counts and expiry status.
